I have a number of Powell fly rods. I had them sent to Australia several years ago. I am slightly confused about the demise of the Powell Co. Is there anyone from Powell (Chico, CA, where I purchased my rods) still making fly rods?

[...] The River Why Not? Per the Trout Underground’s scoop about the pending production of “The River Why” - comes the news of who’s actually in the feature. William Hurt and Amber Heard have been given the nod for two of the starring roles in the production. William Hurt plays the father, and Ms. Heard the “tomboyish love interest.” On the surface little about Ms. Heard appears roughshod, we’ll hold our Oscar vote until we’ve seen her cast. OK, I’ll withhold my vote, the rest of you can sell yourselves cheaply. Wh [...]

A word about Fukuoka if I can:

Fukuoka (???, Fukuoka-shi?) is the capital city of Fukuoka Prefecture and is situated on the northern shore of the island of Ky?sh? in Japan, across the Korea Strait from South Korea's Busan.

It is the most populous city in Ky?sh?, followed by Kitaky?sh?. It is the largest city and metropolitan area west of Osaka. The city was designated on April 1, 1972 by government ordinance. Greater Fukuoka (?????) with 2.5 million people (2005 Census), is part of the heavily industrialized North Ky?sh? zone.

may be a good way to get fresh tuna delivered to my doorstep. knowing my luck, all I'd get would be a rotten old walleye stinking up my porch.

So what's next, barhopping on a Wii?

It doesn't matter Kais, you da Man! It appears that SMJ has made a good start on singlebarb's next unannounced prize. From his enthusiasm, he must believe it's a bass boat!

I had the same experience as Kais.

As a youngster I fished all over the San Francisco waterfront and the Marin side of te Bay. One day I'm reading a book about the fish of California - looking up some strange perch I caught .. in the margin is the careful annotation, "plentiful around sewage treatment outflows, I don't care for their flavor."

It was too late, I'd already ate them. Gulp.

I grew up fishing a river right below the towns sewer plant. Most of my friends' parents wouldn't let them fish with me because they were afraid of what we might catch. One of my best freind's dad used to always ask if we caught sinkers or floaters! Honestly, the holes below the plant had the biggest fish in the entire river. Must have been something in the water!
