One thing you can say about most cats is that they die hard, must be where the where the term "nine lives" came from.
Personally, I never let it get to me but I prefer sun dried road kills as it cuts out about 90% of the handling issues and the neighbors don't get as suspicious.
I prefer winter fur in orange tabby, remember Thomasina?

Ma only had one rule," if it's in my house it better not smell or bleed."

As a youngster my road skinning included opossum from Twin Peaks and a Rooster from the Polo fields, but I never did a kat.

Yanking an oppossum onto Mrs McGillicutty's lawn and removing the pelt was the easy part, I kept an eye peeled to see if the lace curtains parted ... I knew the Gendarmes would be enroute was I spotted.

Leaving the nude carcass perched on her carefully mown fescue was a signature move. The skin dried nicely on the roof, so Ma was never the wiser.

Mr. X would be well served to do likewise.

Dear Singlebarbed,
This morning I passed a dead cat while on my way to work. I know my husband, “Mr. X”, must have seen it too. I also know that he reads your blog every day. If while driving home tonight I don’t see the cat, I’ll know that it is probably sitting in my kitchen sink, and that my husband is most likely on the phone with you asking questions about how best to skin it. Should that be the case, my plan is to just turn my car around and head over to your mother’s house. I’m sure we could find lots to talk about.

You really want to get published in the Journal again don't you? The American Journal of Psychiatry.

I can't say that I'd go fishing for kitties, but if anybody harvests a brown tabby, I'd be first in line for some dubbing
