An article in Fish and Fly describes a brief encounter with a Spanish Fly Fishing tournament, but the interesting references are to the tackle used by european fly fishermen. Long rods, long leaders - far in excess of the stuff common to the US. Rod makers will be all over this as nothing is better than a trend that requires you to buy another rod.

Singlebarbed reader “San Mateo Joe” returns from the Upper Sacramento and McCloud with one less and rod and a tale of adversity turned victorious. We love the out-of-the-box thinking and apparently the Trout thought highly of it as well. No “Kiss and Tell” stories if every third word is a cuss word, more like a “Curse and Tell” - which is fair game in my book.

Another outing on the Little Stinking reveals the location of the Lost Graveyard of Carp. We didn’t catch much so it technically remains lost. Lots of spawning activity and a great hike, a scenic tour of the Capay Valley, but few fish were caught.

HDTV brings the microscope to the television screen, and viewers will be able to see detail never seen before. Fly tying cinema is likely to show every misstep and tiers - like any artist - aren’t yet prepared to see their handiwork examined showcased in such detail.
