I hadn't thought about the food angle - that may be why I have so many loafers come mealtime.

As regards the Missus, bide your time. It is a multipurpose piece, just retain control of the contents, the drawers, etc - and let her figure out where it goes.

Sounds like you're owed already...

That is one very impressive and well thought out piece of woodcraft.

It’s unlikely I’ll ever own anything even remotely like it. As it stands now, I’d have no place to put it anyway. Mrs. SMJ has near total control of the furnishings department, and she’s already filled all of the available space in our home (including the garage) with something or other. That being said, she does allow me make a mess of the far right hand corner of our dining room table, which has worked out well for several years now. It’s warm, well lit, and in close proximity to the bar and fridge. That, and when guests drop by unexpectedly in the afternoon, one look at all the dead animal parts lying on the table is usually all it takes to convince them they’d be better off leaving before dinner.

Coming from a guy that ties in his garage, that's a compliment. Central heat is awesome, beats putting an Icy Hot between your knees, Mr Snowbunny.
